Knob and Tube Wiring
This wiring is a century old
Knob and tube wiring was the original way to get electricity into a house. At the time it was the only wiring method available. Now we have much better materials. Unfortunately much of the old knob and tube material is in poor condition. Amateur electricians often use the wrong methods to tie new wring into the old (as shown here). In most cases the knob and tube wiring should be removed and replaced - usually an expensive proposition.
